Devine Group is confident that its new housing projects will significantly contribute to the UK’s housing target. The government has laid out plans to build 1.5 million homes over the next five years, and Devine is leading the charge.

Devine Group’s new project project: Thakeham Homes, Welborne New Homes Project.

The need for housing in the UK is evident, but reaching the government target has its complications. Labour shortages, land availability, and planning permissions can complicate and elongate housing projects. Devine is overcoming these barriers to ensure they can continue their valuable work.

As Devine Group commence their work on their new Welbourne home project with Thakeham, their focus remains on overcoming the obstacles within the construction sector. Despite worker shortages across the industry, with worker rates falling by 14% since 2019, pay is rising. Construction workers’ wages are up an average of 4.6% annually. This pay improvement will hopefully encourage more people into the industry and upskill individuals, contributing to the vital work they provide. Devine is confident that a new generation of skilled workers will guarantee the government can meet their target.

The construction industry is a mass-producer of the UK’s carbon emissions, so Devine Group is making sustainability its priority. Recent research highlights the growing prominence of net-zero construction projects, with 60% of industry professionals working on such projects in the past year, marking a 15% increase from 2022. Devine’s sustainability efforts go beyond simply meeting regulatory requirements; they are actively reducing their carbon footprint in key areas, including recycling, waste management and community engagement. This commitment to sustainability not only benefits the environment but also enhances the long-term value of the homes they build. With one house built creating an average of 3.5 jobs, ensuring housing developments are successfully completed is essential for the community and economy.

Nigel Jordan, Managing Director of Devine Group, commented, ‘The construction industry is constantly evolving, but we are confident that we can continue our standard of excellence whilst adapting to changes. We are proud to contribute to the government’s housing targets.’

As Devine Group continues to move forward with its projects, they are not only helping to address the housing shortage, but also leading the charge in building a more sustainable and resilient construction industry. Through innovation, sustainability, and a focus on overcoming challenges, Devine Group is making a lasting impact on the UK’s housing landscape, positioning itself as a leader in the industry’s ongoing transformation.
